Upon Astrid’s return with the adventuring group known as **the Runaways**, Corinth erupted into celebration.
The city proclaimed a massive parade and multi-day fair in Astrid’s honor, officially titled:

This festival was framed as a recognition of Astrid’s survival, heroism, and increasing mythic status — but in truth,

use the chaos and crowds to covertly activate and draw upon the **Deck of Many Things** — an artifact owned by **Ixhel**,
the original bearer of the White Flame.

The cult intended to pull from the deck during the festivities, using its unpredictable magic to break planar barriers,
strengthen their patron’s influence, and potentially reclaim Astrid.

Sensing the danger, the Runaways uncovered the cult’s true motives. Realizing they could not stop the ritual alone,
they formed a tense temporary alliance with **Dragon Bayle**, a rival whose presence would normally be cause for alarm
within city borders.

Together, the Runaways and Bayle worked to disrupt the cult’s plans, stall the ritual, and prevent the Deck of Many Things
from being used as a conduit for the Lord of Faces.
